I picked Green Day as my #5 top punk band because of the classics that have played themselves throughout my life so far. I have heard any song from them since Platypus (I Hate You), all the way through the most recent albums they released; Uno!, Dos!, & Tre! Their sound has revolutionized the genre of punk throughout the years since their rising presence in the society of music.
4. Dropkick Murphys
For my #4 pick, I had to pick the Dropkick Murphys. They have created so many hit songs that I just absolutely love, such as: "I'm Shipping Up To Boston," "Flannigan's Ball," and "The Warrior's Code." They have a completely grunge and straight-up punk style of music. They have revolutionized the genre of punk into their own subdivision of sound.
3. Blink-182
Blink has always been a classic in my thoughts of a punk band, and they have just been around for so long. They have just created the type of music that generations of punk kids just love to keep hearing, even as the years pass away. Their hits "Always" and "Dammit" have always been on my iPod as long as I can remember, I have also had Blink CD's since I was about 7. That is why I had to place Blink-182 as my #3.
2. Jimmy Eat World
As my #2 pick of my top punk bands, I could only think of how Jimmy Eat World had been one of my favorites for the longest time. "The Middle," "Bleed American," "Coffee and Cigarettes," "Pain," and "The Authority Song" have all been so successful in attracting my attention and have kept my listening ears coming back again and again to hear them every time I see their names on my iPod.
1. Sum 41
This band has always been my #1 pick out of any punk band whatsoever for as long as I can remember. Their songs "Fat Lip," "In Too Deep," "Motivation," "Still Waiting," "The Hell Song," "Over My Head (Better Off Dead)," "We're All To Blame," "Pieces," "Walking Disaster," and "With Me" have always played through different parts of my life, along with the emotional and mental changes I had been growing through as a person. I personally have grown quite attached to "With Me" over the past few years because of a relationship I had been quite attached to. That is why Sum 41 has earned my spot of the Best Punk Band of All Time.
